7 Tips To Release Negative Emotions (And Excess Weight!)
Did you know the most common trapped emotions include anxiety, grief, disgust, humiliation, overwhelm, worthlessness, and conflict?
When these emotions are stuck within our being, they manifest into physical signs and symptoms that hold us back from being the best version of ourselves. This includes chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, skin conditions, digestive issues and holding onto excess weight.
So how do you actually release negative emotions? We had a general idea, but we wanted to get you the best advice possible, so we sourced some awesome tips from the one and only Deepak Chopra to guide you:
1. Meditate
Identify and locate the emotion physically through a guided meditation.
2. Seek Out The Emotion
Sit quietly, breathing slowly, and think about what may be holding you back, recall a moment that is uncomfortable for you, and touch the part of your body that is feeling that emotion the most, e.g. your chest, your stomach.
3. Own The Emotion
Re-establish the owner of the pain or unpleasant emotion. Focus on who or what made you feel that way, then begin to see it as just a feeling that you have the power either to keep or let go. Take back your control of how you feel, and consciously choose to release it.
4. Write It Down
Journal your feelings to express them. If you're not sure where to start, just start anyway. The words will flow once you begin!
5. Talk It Out
If someone has hurt you or caused you suffering, have the conversation you’ve been holding in for so long without them. Talk through it out loud to yourself or with someone you trust to begin the healing process.
6. Be Grateful For The Lesson
Show gratitude for that emotion and experience. It has allowed you to reach a higher state of being, improving who you are, and strengthening your resilience.
7. Tap Your Way Through It
No, not the dancing version (though that may work for you too!), but Tapping. A scientifically backed technique that's often called Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). EFT is based upon the understanding that the more unresolved emotional issues you can clear, the more peace and emotional freedom you will have in your life. This tool is best taught by a practitioner who can guide you.
It's really up to you whether you use all of these techniques or just one or two. Find the ones that work for you and don't give up. They may take some getting used to, but once you begin to incorporate ways to release negative, pent-up emotions, you will notice a shift deep within your own consciousness, and those dreams and goals that seemed out of reach for you may just become your reality!
