Detox Enema's - Why and How?

If there was a pump failure or major blockage in the city’s sewer system, it's not be hard to imagine what could happen. All of the pipes would back up when an immovable material came through, creating a gigantic crisis that would threaten the health of all who lived in the city. Many of the devastating plagues and diseases that literally wiped out entire cities and communities arose from open sewers and improper waste disposal. If the sewer ever backs up, dangerous health problems occur!

Similarly in the human body, big health problems can stem from major blockages and toxic build up that occur over time in the digestive system.  Think again of the analogy of your digestive tract being the "River of Life" or "River of Death" depending on what you choose to float down the river (for the most part of your life). The digestive system can shut down if it becomes clogged with toxic residue because of nutritionally deficient "food-less foods" and "life-less drinks" ingested regularly over time.  The build up of toxic materials within the bowel can cause a condition known as auto-intoxication as the poisons in the bowel are absorbed into the blood stream, which ends up toxicating the entire body.

Why does this happen? It's no secret that the foremost reasons are improper eating and exercise habits.  Modern civilization, especially the industrialized nations, have the greatest bowel disturbances.  It's why there is a major "war" being waged on bowel cancer.  We're told that it's a mystery where bowel cancer comes from and yet native peoples living close to the land and nature do not experience bowel problems, and such diseases as diverticulitis and colitis are virtually unknown.

Colonic hygiene is central to the overall ongoing maintenance of health and vitality in the human body.  That's why fasting every once in a while (giving the "house a rest" from the digestion of foods) is so critical for maintaining optimal health and remaining disease-free.  It's why colonic irrigation and enema's are brilliant ancient therapies that more and more people today are using to assist with "house cleaning".  And it's precisely why clean water and a diet predominating in whole plant foods is so critical for maintaining a happy, healthy, clean digestive system.

The further we stray from natural foods and the more we depend upon unnatural and artificial foodstuffs, the more certain it becomes that sickness and disease increase in frequency and intensity. The way we grow, harvest, process and market our food is at the root of much disease in our population. I don't need to elaborate on the economic factors that today play havoc with the supply of food to the masses.  But again, it's why being self-care aware is so important.  It's why we need to THINK about what we put into our bodies and to take personal responsibility for that.

How To Do An Enema

by Dr Linda Page, ND

We take a shower every day to clean ourselves but why not give your insides a shower every once in a while? Enemas release old, encrusted colon waste, discharge parasites, freshen the G.I. tract and make the cleansing process easier and more thorough. Enemas accelerate any cleanse for better results. They are especially helpful during a healing crisis, after a serious illness to speed healing, or to remove drug residues. Migraines and skin problems like psoriasis are reported to clear up after enemas.

The procedure for an effective detox enema

Place 1 litre of lukewarm filtered water in an enema bag. Hang the bag about 18 inches higher than the body. Attach the colon tube and lubricate its attachment with coconut or olive oil. Expel a little water to let out air bubbles. Lying on your left side, slowly insert the attachment about 2 inches into the rectum. Never use force. Rotate attachment gently to ease insertion. Open the water valve so water can flow in. Remove kinks in the tubing so liquid will flow freely. Massage abdomen, or flex and contract stomach muscles to relieve cramping. When all the solution has entered the colon, slowly remove the tube and remain on the left side for 5 minutes. Then move to a knee-chest position with your body weight on your knees and one hand. Use the other hand to massage the lower left side of the abdomen for several minutes.

Massage breaks up old fecal matter. Roll onto your back for 5 minutes, massaging up the descending colon, over the transverse colon to the right side and down the ascending colon. Then move onto your right side for 5 minutes, in order to reach each part of the colon. Get up and quickly expel into the toilet. Sticky grey-brown mucous, small dark crusty chunks or tough ribbony pieces are usually loosened and expelled during an enema. These poisonous looking things are obstacles and toxins interfering with normal body functions. An enema removes them. You may have to take several enemas until there is no more evidence of these substances.

Fresh wheatgrass juice enemas stimulate the liver to cleanse. Wheatgrass enema nutrients are absorbed by the hemorrhoidal vein, just inside the anal sphincter, then circulate to the liver where they increase peristaltic action of the colon and attract waste and old fecal matter like a magnet to be eliminated from the body. Wheatgrass juice tones the colon and is absorbed into the blood, adding oxygen and energy to the body. Use pure water for an initial enema rinse of the colon. Then use about a cup of water to 4 ounces of fresh wheatgrass juice. Hold the juice for ten minutes while massaging the colon area. Then, expel in the toilet.

A Colonic Irrigation Is A ‘Super - Enema’

Both colonics and enemas are effective in a detox program. Benefits are a matter of degree but they’re dramatically different, both in terms of waste removed and body improvement. Your colon is over five feet long. If you want to cleanse all of it you need a colonic irrigation. Here’s how a colonic works. A colonic irrigation uses special equipment and gravity (or oxygen for more control) to give your colon an internal bath.

To take a colonic, you lie on a special colema-board which is about three feet below the temperature-controlled water flow. A speculum is gently inserted in your rectum, and under the control of the practitioner, a steady flow of water gently flows from a small water tube. There is no discomfort, no internal pressure, just a steady gentle water flow in and then out of the colon through the evacuation tube, carrying with it impacted faeces and mucous. Unlike an enema, a colonic irrigation does not involve the retention of water. As the water flows out of the colon the practitioner gently massages the abdomen to help the colon release its contents, recover its natural shape and normalise peristaltic wave action. A view tube lets you see the colonic material being released – an edifying experience. You do nothing but lie back and relax while the entire colon is cleansed.

A colonic irrigation uses about 40 gallons of water and takes about forty-five minutes. The colonic procedure is not offensive, not painful. The first things most people feel after a colonic irrigation is a sense of lightness, energy and an improved sense of well-being. Skin condition, digestion and immune response improve. Body odour and bad breath essentially disappear, as does belly distension.

Colonics are best done in the evening so that you can relax and retire for healing rest. For best results, take a herbal green drink mixed with probiotics before and after the colonic.
