6 Ways to Level Up Your Mindset
Changing your mindset is one of those things that are practically impossible to achieve and that solely lies with the fact that most people just quit. They quit too early on their journey and they do not achieve what they were hoping for. But changing your mindset can truly be what’s missing in your life.
Either because you want to achieve certain physical goals, feel more alive, better mental health or just because you’re craving a change in your life, leveling up your mindset will push you to the next level in your life. It’ll help you achieve the things you’ve been wanting and waiting for months or even years.
It is difficult, but you can do it. Here’s how to go from couch-potato to unagi-royalness! (Yes, I’m totally quoting Ross, and yes, his words can help you improve the way you think about things.)
1. Be Nicer to Yourself
One of the worst things we can do to ourselves is to not be kind in our own mind. We are quick to compliment others when they’re feeling down and help them get through difficult moments with kind words, but when it comes to ourselves, in our mind, we can be our worst enemy. So, be kinder, nicer to yourself. Think positively, think ‘I can do this’, ‘I’ve got this’, ‘I am beautiful’, ‘I am strong’. If your self-talk is negative, why should your mindset change? You don’t even believe in yourself, so how could you welcome change into your life? Change your thoughts, one by one, slowly, but do it every day, and you’ll see more positivity surrounding you.
2. Small Goals Make Long-Term Routines
Whoever said small is not the way to go, they didn’t know what it takes to successfully change a lifestyle. Going big is mostly unsustainable and what we want from this experience is a new way of living, a new way of thinking. If you go with big, drastic changes, you’ll be going back to your old patterns more quickly than it takes you to say “small goals rule”. In all honesty, though, smaller goals will help you keep in check with yourself and by slowly getting successful, you’ll feel motivated and will look forward to continuing with your challenges.
3. Be Active! Move!
Go on hikes, walk outside, just move! Going on hikes is an easy and effective way to clear our mind and start anew. Especially going on hikes alone forces us to be in touch with ourselves and our thoughts, which will inevitably lead to a better understanding of our needs and wants. Being alone doesn’t have to be bad at all, it can actually shine a new light on our feelings and that is a steppingstone into ultimately changing our mindset. Struggle for time? Here's how to fit movement into your workday.
4. Be Around Inspiring People
Now, I know I just mentioned going on hikes all by yourself. However, sometimes, it is equally important to surround yourself with inspiring people. Those who motivate you and make you want to be your better self are crucial when changing your life. If they’re close friends, they’ll be there for you, along the way and guide you towards your final goals. But, in case you don’t have many friends who can affect you that way, try finding some motivational speeches online, because listening to them and will do wonders and make you feel ready for whatever comes your way. Why wouldn’t you want that every single day?
5. Learn from Your Old Self
This is as old as it gets kind of advice. It’s like an apple, it’s just there, maybe a little boring, but it’s fruit and it works. Learning from your past mistakes not only directs you to a wiser future but it also teaches you to look for old habits you do not want to see in your new life. As long as you’re learning from your past, you’re growing, and growth, my friend, is changing.
6. Breathe
Meditation is another great way to get in touch with our roots. Slowing down, in the middle of a stressful day, breathing in and out, focusing on what’s happening inside of you, it will help you see yourself (and feel) in a completely different light. Just a few minutes, a few times a day, and I can promise you in a week or so, you’ll begin to see a difference.
Success comes in many different shapes, sizes, and forms, but being successful is always derived from some kind of strong mindset. To achieve it, one has to let go of certain patterns and old habits that could be prejudicial to the new you.
Follow this list if you’re trying to live in a new way and level up your mindset; you can do it, but it’s up to you, you just have to take the first step.
