Make Your Own Invigorating Body Scrub
Many years ago, two of my housemates worked at Nespresso. The perks were amazing, with an abundance of coffee at our fingertips, but as an eco-conscious household we had our concerns about the single-use pods. It was around the time that coffee scrubs were beginning to become the next big thing in the beauty industry, so we decided to repurpose the pods and make our own scrubs!
Caffeine body scrubs are as invigorating and awakening as they are health-promoting. Coffee grinds have been shown to reduce the appearance of cellulite, help to slough dead skin cells and encourage rejuvenation, and may even assist in lymphatic drainage and detoxifying the body. It’s a win, win, win, in my eyes, but a lot of the scrubs on the market are expensive and are cause for more unnecessary consumption. By reusing your daily coffee, you’re giving it a second life (and a meaningful one at that too).
This scrub uses simple kitchen basics and comes together in a flash. To get maximum benefits, I like to have a quick shower, leave the scrub on for 20 minutes (bring a book or magazine to the bathroom while you’re killing time), then rinse it off! You’ll feel soft and fresh all over.

When using pre-used coffee grinds, this scrub will last about a week, so only make as much as you’re able to get through! You can also store coffee grinds in the fridge until you’re ready to use them.
