Cinnamon & Clove Hot Chocolate

Sofia da Silva SOFIA DA SILVA

Hot chocolate is always delicious, right?

Yes, that's right, but with this recipe, you can take it to a whole new level of delicious by sprucing it up with warm and comforting spices.

Not only does it taste amazing, but you're getting some real health benefits by drinking up a solid combination of superfoods. Raw cacao, cinnamon and clove all have amazing properties that help fight off germs and reduce the chance of illness, especially during these cold winter months. Raw cacao is a powerful anti-oxidant and very rich in magnesium and B vitamins.

Cinnamon increases circulation and reduces inflammation in the body, and cloves contain powerful antiseptic and anesthetic properties. Just to name a few.

So, try making this hot chocolate during the holidays - no one will even know that it's healthy!

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 cups Almond Milk (or preferred choice of non-dairy milk)
  • 1 1/2 tbsp Raw Cacao
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground Cloves
  • pinch of Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Stevia

WHAT TO DO:

  1. In a pot, stir the cacao, spices, stevia and salt into the almond milk on medium heat until everything is well combined and dissolved. I recommend using a whisk and constantly stirring while heating the mixture.
  2. Serve hot, sprinkle some cinnamon on top and enjoy!

Notes: You can substitute stevia with your natural sweetener of choice (e.g. honey, coconut sugar, maple syrup...) while adjusting measurements for your preferred sweetness!
